PERFORMING ARTS
MASTERWORKS CONCERT SERIES
The concert series continues through May with a wide range of musical artists and styles. Each free concert starts at 7 p.m., and patrons are allowed to bring food and nonalcoholic beverages. Bringing a lawn chair or blanket to sit on is recommended. Food and dessert trucks will serve items from 6 to 9 p.m., and Southlake’s 1956 Pizza will host a guest chef each evening.

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD & RIVERDANCE 25th ANNIVERSARY SHOW
Aaron Sorkin’s award-winning adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird is coming to Dallas. The Broadway version of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prizewinning book has drawn rave reviews from The New York Times, Rolling Stone and New York Magazine. Emmy winner Richard Thomas will play Atticus Finch. The beloved Irish and international dance show Riverdance is celebrating 25 years. Composer Bill Whelan re-recorded the soundtrack and producer Moya Doherty and director John McColgan have reimagined the show through lighting, projection and stage and costume designs.

CLIBURN INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR PIANO COMPETITION AND FESTIVAL
The third Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival will feature 24 pianists ages 13 to 17 competing for the top prize, which includes a scholarship and a cash prize. An additional 14 young pianists have been invited as noncompeting festival participants. The first three rounds of competition will take place at SMU’s Caruth Auditorium, where three finalists will be selected. Finalists will play with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra at the Meyerson Symphony Center under the direction of Valentina Peleggi. Tickets and the competition schedule are available on the Cliburn’s website.

EVENTS
MIMOSA STROLL & SHOP
Mimosa Stroll & Shop is a 10 a.m. to noon “before hours” shopping event featuring special deals at participating Southlake Town Square stores. Check-in starts at 9:30 a.m., and the first 200 guests will receive a gift bag. Guests can also fuel up at a coffee bar or grab complimentary brunch bites provided by Ferah Tex-Med Kitchen. Tickets are $20, and proceeds benefit GRACE Grapevine.

SOUTHLAKE STARS & STRIPES
Southlake’s annual Stars & Stripes event has something for the entire family. There will be food, drinks and live music, and a Kids Corner is among the family-friendly activities. A fireworks show incorporating patriotic music will cap off the festivities. The event begins at 3 p.m., and admission is free.

MUSEUM
NANDO’S ART COLLECTION: ‘IF YOU CAN LOOK HARD ENOUGH, YOU CAN SEE OUR FUTURE’
The exhibit “If You Can Look Hard Enough, You Can See Our Future” made its world debut in Dallas in April. More than 90 pieces from emerging, midcareer and established South African-based artists are on display. Each artist’s perspective helps shape an understanding of the South African social environment and transformation over the last 70 years. Portraits, cityscapes, landscapes and abstracts highlight the collection.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND PIXAR
Ever wonder what goes into the making of a Pixar film, particularly how character favorites like Buzz Lightyear, Mike, Sulley and Dory are created and brought to life? Making its Texas debut at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, “The Science Behind Pixar” offers a unique look at the animation process, with almost 10,000 square foot of exhibition space for visitors to explore.
