PROKOFIEV AND TCHAIKOVSKY
A pair of children’s tales take center stage during the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra’s performance of works by Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky. Music Director Robert Spano conducts as the Old Trout Puppet Workshop, a Calgary-based touring group, helps tell Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” with large-scale puppets while on stage with the orchestra. The second act of Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker” ballet will open the concert.

DRACULA
Join Texas Ballet Theater in exploring the terrifying domain and life of Dracula. The legendary vampire brings horror and destruction upon his unwitting victims as a result of an insatiable bloodlust. The show, which runs two hours and 15 minutes, is suitable for mature audiences.

ONCE UPON A MATTRESS
Based on the fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea,” “Once Upon a Mattress” brings comedy, music and mischief together onstage. By royal decree of the queen, no one in the kingdom may marry until the prince finds a wife. Anyone interested in wedding the prince must pass a series of tests. Many have tried and failed, until the queen seems to meet her match in a particularly bold and charming young princess. Stage West will co-produce this “ap-PEA-ling” story with Theatre TCU.

I’M PROUD OF YOU
The world premiere of “I’m Proud of You” shares former Fort Worth Star Telegram writer Tim Madigan’s story of how an interview with a children’s television icon started a life-changing friendship. Fred Rogers helped Madigan become a better husband, brother and father and mend several relationships along the way. Madigan’s book by the same title has been adapted for the stage by Madigan and Harry Parker.

LA MÉDIUM
“La Médium,” a one-act opera, centers around Madame Flora and her two assistants. Madame Flora is a fake medium who pretends to communicate with the dead. A series of terrifying events, including physical contact from
an apparition, start occurring during her seances. Hoping to prove her sanity, Madame Flora stages a seance with an assistant disguised as the ghost of a murdered child. But when the real ghost appears, Madam Flora is driven to the brink. The opera will be performed in Spanish with English subtitles at Rose Marine Theater.

Exhibits
COME TO COLORADO & THE WORLD OUTSIDE: LOUISE NEVELSON AT MIDCENTURY
The “Come to Colorado” exhibit pulls from the Amon Carter’s Fred and Jo Mazzulla Collection, which features 19th-century photographs from W. J. Carpenter, Joseph M. Collier and William Henry Jackson. The visuals showcase the history of Colorado, documenting the settlement and promotion of the area as an outdoor playground while the mining industry took off in the late 19th century. “The World Outside: Louise Nevelson at Midcentury” focuses on Nevelson’s midcentury sculptures and works on paper. The 50 works in the Carter’s exhibit will be on view together for the first time in thematic sections that explore Nevelson’s identity and significance as an artist of her time.
