Ice Box Creamery
9570 Clifford St, Fort Worth
This locally owned drive-thru creamery is known for their quick, friendly service and over-the-top sundaes. Their rich homemade ice cream is layered with customizable toppings to ensure maximum enjoyment all the way to the bottom of the cup. The creamery’s “favorite sundaes” include the Limcello, a lemon ice cream based sundae with lemon bread, limoncello cake bites, and white chocolate chips, and the Peanut Lover, a rich sundae with layers of chocolate ice cream, peanuts, peanut butter, espresso powder, and chocolate sauce. In addition to ice cream, the shop serves up shaved ice, Nutella-covered strawberries, and homemade cannolis.
Pro tip: Although Ice Box Creamery is a drive-thru, they do have a few tables on a quaint patio outside of the establishment. Check it out if you’re wanting to enjoy an evening outside this summer!
Sweetzy’s Snowcones
3400 Bernie Anderson Ave, Fort Worth, 972-439-5038
This family-friendly Hawaiian shaved ice stand is known for its great service, variety of sweet summertime flavors, and unique toppings like cotton candy, sour gummy worms, & Blue Bell ice cream. While the toppings add a layer of excitement to the towering mounds of snow, the menu item that really sets Sweetzy’s apart is their Texas-sized real fruit snow cone: a hollowed out pineapple or watermelon filled to the top with fresh snow and your choice of sweet syrups and toppings. Families can share these sizable snow cones, but we won’t judge if you decide to tackle it on your own.
Try this: When you aren’t in the mood to brave the heat, Sweetzy’s has a drive-thru option that reviews say moves quickly despite the crowds.
Kokitos
6708 Camp Bowie Blvd, Fort Worth, 817-732-2820
6425 McCart Ave, Fort Worth, 682-708-8535
Inspired by their cultural roots in Mexico, Fort Worth’s Santos family opened Kokitos in 2012 with the vision of putting a unique flair on the traditional Mexican frutería. Still serving up delicious classic Mexican desserts and antojitos (little snack foods), the family created recipes with a tropical twist and Instagram-worthy presentation. Most impressive are their drinks, which include various fruit drinks, smoothies, frappes, milk shakes, and clamatos, or tomato cocktails; in short, there’s something for everyone. Their over-the-top drinks include the Fruity Gummy (Squirt soda piled high with chamoy, fresh fruit, various gummy candies), the Francesca (freshly chopped watermelon and other fresh fruit topped with ice cream and popping boba), and the Piña Colada, which is served fresh in a pineapple and complete with a drink umbrella. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet, fresh, or savory, you can probably find something you’ll love at Kokitos.
Jars by Fabio Viviani
3000 S Hulen St #150, Fort Worth, 682-708-1777
In January, Fort Worth became home to one of celebrity chef and restaurateur Favio Viviani’s new dessert concepts: JARS. The fast-casual shop on South Hulen Street presents classic desserts we know and love (such as cheesecake, tiramisu, pie, and cake) in a unique way, layering the sweet elements in single-serve jars. The rotating menu keeps things interesting, but classics such as Fabio’s Tiramisu, Oreo Cookies & Cream cake, and Banana Cream Pie are here to stay. The shop even has some gluten free options, such as their Gluten Free Chocolate Caramel Cheesecake.
Tip: If baked goods aren’t your jam, the JARS menu features various soft serve sundaes, milkshakes, and refreshing fruit drinks. Reviews say the rich gourmet hot chocolate on their winter menu is fabulous as well.
Dusty Biscuit Beignets
411 S Main St Suite 109, Fort Worth, 817-841-9255
What started out as a side-hustle pop-up for the founder became Dusty Biscuit Beignets, a local beignet shop that brings the French Quarter to Fort Worth. Located just off of South Main Street, the shop has put their own spin on the classic beignet, or “fried gold”, in both sweet and savory ways. On the sweet side is the Bourbon Street, drizzled in a bourbon maple glaze with chopped bacon, the Cowtown King Cake, with a sweet cream cheese and cinnamon sugar, and various glazed options such as browned butter, chocolate, and lemon. The beignets can be served in trios, and the shop regularly features holiday specials, which they display on their social media accounts and website.

While a classic cup or cone can hit the spot, their menu also features crepes and waffles, which are served warm with scoops of gelato for a combination that is sure to impress. An over-the-top dish on their menu is the waffle sticks, a large cup of gelato with large waffle sticks lining the outer edge. The dessert can be topped with chocolate sauce, powdered sugar, whipped cream, or even a fresh macaron.
