The latest new urban market is open in Fort Worth, with a group of partners opening Marché Bleu in late July at The Shops at Clearfork.

The market, at 5256 Marathon Ave., operates a coffee bar, lunch with grab-and-go and made-to-order items, and happy hour with charcuterie boards. Marché Bleu also sells convenience items ranging from gourmet foods and produce to beer and wines, snacks and household staples.

The four partners — Jason Helm, Taylor Huang, Matt Thompson and Brody Self — recruited Rami Rassas, a Dallas private chef, to handle the cafe’s menu.

Marché Bleu grew out of one of the partner’s much more limited idea for a convenience store, and projected demand for kinds of items from Clearfork residents, employees, shoppers and others who live, work and play in the area, Thompson said in an interview. The Shops at Clearfork was also drawn to a much broader concept and “how do you make it reflect the idea of Clearfork,” Thompson said.

The finish-out is meant to mimic the ambience of European cafes. The coffee bar is using beans from a Dallas roaster. Banquette seating invites gatherings of friends. The lunch menu features an array of salads and sandwiches.

Marché Bleu is the first retail experience for most of the four owners, who know each other either through associations such as attending TCU and investing in oil and gas and real estate together. The group and Rassas feel the concept could be replicated in other locations.

“I hope this is the first of many, many more to come,” said Rassas, who has only one other client in Fort Worth and sees Marché Bleu as an opportunity to expand the reach of his private chef business.
