Michelin Guide Texas Announcement

The highly anticipated Michelin Guide Texas will be announced in Houston on Nov. 11.

The first Texas-focused guide will feature restaurants in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio.

The acclaimed international restaurant review company is finally headed to the Lone Star State after roughly 100 years of restaurant rating. The ratings range from one to three stars.

“The Texas culinary scene has proven to be an exhilarating one, with multicultural influences, homegrown ingredients and talent that is rich in ambition,” says Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of The Michelin Guide. “Texas is a perfect fit for the Michelin Guide, based on the experiences of our anonymous inspectors.”

There is so much to enjoy in Texas, especially with the rapidly expanding metropolitan areas with offerings spanning farm-to-table dishes, fusion cuisine, upscale dining and the famous Texas-style barbecue, she says.

According to the Michelin website, the inspectors are on the lookout for the “quality of the products, harmony of flavors, the personality of the chef as reflected in the cuisine, value for money and the overall consistency between visits.”

Who in Fort Worth is up for a Michelin star or stars? We can only go off of rumors until Nov. 11, but Texas Monthly polled their Dining Guide restaurant reviewers and a couple of their food editors who gave their best guesses. The following hotspots are at the top of the list: 61 Osteria, Ático, Bonnell’s Fine Texas Cuisine, Clay Pigeon, Don Artemio, Ellerbe Fine Foods, Goldee’s Barbecue, Grace, Le Margot, Lonesome Dove, Panther City BBQ, Saint-Emilion and Tinies.
