Local Public Eatery

Next time you find yourself on the eastern stretch of Henderson Avenue searching for a neighborhood spot that makes you long to live in the neighborhood, newcomer Local Public Eatery is your target. If Dallas had a “Cheers” prototype, this would be it. The space boasts tall ceilings, cool lighting and oversized TVs, creating a lively atmosphere anchored around a four-sided bar. The semi-open kitchen in the back delivers one standout dish after another, especially their gossamer-crust pizzas, which arrive with puffy edges and a beautifully crispy undercarriage. Other menu highlights include the Korean pork bowl, velvety in texture and bright in acidity, and a spicy Caesar salad spiked with Calabrian chiles. The classic double smashburger is as good as it gets.

Georgie’s New Brunch

Georgie has firmly established itself as one of Dallas’s premier dining destinations under the leadership of executive chef RJ Yoakum, a former chef at The French Laundry in Napa. The new Sunday brunch menu is a standout, featuring dishes like brown butter poached oysters with seaweed and Kaluga caviar. Yoakum says it’s a nod to his mentor, French Laundry chef-owner Thomas Keller, but we think Keller would be equally impressed with a stack of Yoakum’s banana pancakes and a plate of Ora King salmon Benedict with horseradish hollandaise.

Le PasSage

Restaurateurs Stephan Courseau, Daniele Garcia, Bruno Davaillon and Edward Goemans have scored yet another hit with Le PasSage, their new siren song along Dallas’ Katy Trail. The restaurant’s interior channels the elegance of Shanghai, while the outdoor patio leans toward vibrant Hanoi. This dual ambiance perfectly complements a menu from executive chef Hou Lam “Dicky” Fung, a Hong Kong native, that marries flavors from Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand with French culinary techniques. On a recent visit, we loved the Dover sole enlivened with lemongrass butter, and the scallops crudo, an inspired take on Tom Kha soup. If you’re adventurous, the whole fried snapper served with Thai herbs, chiles and lime is a showstopper.
