Be it blue sky or true blue, the color is practically a neutral. Which is why we applaud the Classic Blue chosen by Pantone as its 2020 color of the year. They call it ”timeless and enduring,” as well as a dependable color in these times that require “trust and faith.” That’s some deep thinking, but perhaps Pantone wants to atone for past picks of Living Coral, Ultra Violet and the duo of Rose Quartz and the babyish blue Serenity. Sherwin-Williams also is in a blue mood, going with a deep and bold Naval blue for its 2020 pick. Benjamin Moore chose a soft pink, called First Light, for its 2020 color of the year, but did include the bold Blue Danube in its trends palette. Pick your favorite or mix and match. Our choice for 2020 is whatever color makes you happy. — Meda Kessler
