Meet the Amon Carter Museum’s 2026 Carter Community Artists

The Amon Carter Museum of American Art has announced its 2026 Carter Community Artists, naming Holly D. Gray, Jack Hein, Elizabeth Maria Hudson and Carolyn Marco to the yearlong initiative that connects local artists with the museum and the greater North Texas community. Now in its eighth year, the program selects four artists annually to collaborate with the Carter’s education staff on lectures, workshops, student tours and hands-on art-making experiences for audiences of all ages and abilities.

The 2026 cohort represents a wide range of creative disciplines and perspectives, including Gray’s photography and sculpture examining caregiving and memorialization, Hein’s ceramic work shaped by themes of memory and displacement, Hudson’s watercolor paintings grounded in Black American folklore and womanist narratives, and Marco’s interdisciplinary practice focused on sustainability and reclaimed materials.
