The Fort Worth Botanic Garden has earned accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums, placing it among a select group of institutions recognized for meeting the highest national standards for excellence, accountability and public trust. Of the estimated 33,000 museums in the country, only about 1,100 have received the distinction.
While any garden is a place to admire seasonal blooms, botanic gardens are specialized for their living collections, research and educational mission. The accreditation recognizes not only the Garden’s 120-acre campus but also the work of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas, whose scientific research and conservation efforts helped qualify the institution for the honor.
The achievement follows an extensive accreditation process that included a yearlong self-study, an on-site evaluation by peer reviewers and a final review by the independent Accreditation Commission. The designation places the Fort Worth Botanic Garden alongside renowned cultural institutions across the country, as well as fellow Fort Worth museums including the Kimbell Art Museum, Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Amon Carter Museum of American Art and Sid Richardson Museum.
