William Campbell Gallery names Anne Kelly Lewis its new director

Fort Worth’s William Campbell Gallery, an exhibitor of nationally recognized contemporary art for nearly 50 years, said Tuesday it named Anne Kelly Lewis its new director.

Lewis has more than 11 years of gallery and fine art auction background. She was gallery and auction director at David Dike Fine Art in Dallas for more than 10 years, and has owned an appraisal practice, Fine Art Appraisal, L.L.C. since 2012.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to connect to the art community here, across the state, and beyond,” Lewis said in a release. “William Campbell Gallery is immensely respected, and I am honored to lead it into its next chapter.”

The gallery this month launched the exhibition Compendium Revealed at its Byers Avenue and Foch Street locations. The exhibition will be followed by the new artist debut of Lee Albert Hill during the Fort Worth Art Dealers Association’s Spring Gallery Night, with a solo exhibition of work by Lloyd Martin.

Founded in 1974, William Campbell Gallery exhibits high-quality contemporary art in paintings, works on paper, mixed-media constructions, photography, prints, ceramics, and sculpture. The gallery exhibits the work of nationally recognized artists and new and emerging artists.

“With this new directorship, the vision of the gallery is to not only offer the newest works by current artists but also expand that roster to provide additional and pioneering artists,” the gallery said. “Anne will collaborate closely with institutions, artists, and collectors to help continue to grow the gallery as a cornerstone of a vibrant art community.”

Misty Locke, a partner in the gallery, said in the release,  “Anne brings a breath of fresh air and expertise that is undeniable. Her passion and knowledge are unparalleled, and we are confident Anne will continue to propel the gallery forward. She’s already inventing new ways to celebrate art and cultivate opportunities for our artists and collectors while honoring the values and ambition Bill and Pam Campbell created when they founded this gallery.”

During her career, Lewis has achieved several accolades and awards, serving on several boards in the industry. She is an Accredited Member Appraiser of the International Society of Appraisers, where she is co-chair of the upcoming annual ISA conference in March. Lewis graduated from Fort Worth Country Day and received her B.A. in Arts Management from the College of Charleston, S.C.
