Black Every Day

Amon Carter Museum of American Art
3501 Camp Bowie Blvd., Fort Worth, 817-738-1933, cartermuseum.org

The images are of Black people doing everyday things: kids hanging out, a man getting a haircut at the barbershop, people at a church service, a woman holding a baby. The Carter has opened its vault to showcase more than 50 images by iconic artists — Richard Avedon, Gordon Parks, Garry Winogrand — and more than 100 images by unidentified photographers. All take an in-depth look at the broad influence of Black culture within themes of labor, community, family and excellence. June 11-Sept. 11

Sargent, Whistler, and Venetian Glass: American Artists and the Magic of Murano Goblets and mosaics are paired with prints and paintings from 19th-century American artists in this exploration of Venetian glass and how the Italian city inspired these notable painters. June 26-Sept. 11

Justin Ginsberg: Shaking the Shadow This Texas-based artist plays off the “Magic of Murano” exhibit to create a large-scale “waterfall” from glass threads made in a kiln on the museum’s lawn. June 11-Sept. 25
