Rachmaninoff’s Thirds

Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra

Bass Performance Hall, 330 E. 4th St., Fort Worth, 817-665-6000, fwsymphony.org

This all-Rachmaninoff program includes the composer’s third piano concerto, known to be as grueling to play as it is riveting to hear. Conductor Edo de Waart of the San Diego Symphony leads the FWSO, along with guest pianist Natasha Paremski, through the program, which also includes crowd-favorite Symphony No. 3. Oct. 7-9

A Trip to Harlem: Bernstein, Ellington, Gershwin, and Douglas J. Cuomo

FWSO pays homage to jazz legends, including selections from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. The concert also includes a world premiere of a piece by visiting composer Douglas J. Cuomo, pictured, whose lengthy portfolio includes film, TV and concert music. FWSO’s Robert Spano conducts. Oct. 14-16
