The Perfect Day

Addison and Jeron met their freshman year at Baylor University, and ended up being neighbors for the following three years of college in their off-campus houses. “Our friends became friends and it formed the sweetest community,” she says. “We had a massive wedding party and the majority were our roommates over that time period.”

Jeron drove Addie to Lake Waco the morning he was going to propose. This wasn’t out of the ordinary, as the couple had enjoyed many take-out picnics at the same spot. What was out of the ordinary, however, was Jeron’s “sketchy” behavior that morning and the fact that he was wearing a new outfit. “The second we turned down the entrance road I saw tears form in Jeron’s eyes,” she reminisces. “ I knew then that this was the moment! We celebrated the day with afternoon tea at the Crescent in Dallas (one of our favorite date traditions) and then a surprise engagement party at my parent’s house. It was the most perfect day.”

For venues, the couple looked no further than St. Stephen Presbyterian Church for the ceremony and Colonial Country Club for the reception. “We knew we wanted to get married in a church,” Addison says. “Something about it being so traditional and allowing us to stay focused on what this covenant represented. The Colonial was an easy choice. I love the elegance!”

According to the busy bride, planning was only possible thanks to her mother and incredible planner, Sarah Angell of Alice Allen Events. “I was planning the wedding while in the middle of a move and at the beginning of a school year teaching a new grade,” she says. “Needless to say, it was a season that I needed a lot of support in. I had to learn to let go of the details I couldn’t control and have fun in the process of planning.”

I had to learn to let go of the details I couldn’t control and have fun in the process of planning.”

Complemented by an abundance of candles setting the mood, florals were the star of the show in this wedding. Rosie’s Floral Design pulled off the bride’s dream, two 50-foot hydrangea waterfall pieces which donned the two head tables. “I was obsessed and felt like I was in a garden,” Addison says. “I then did blooms on the stage, bar, cake table and mantle, and church altar. We also did twelve high centerpieces and reused bridesmaids bouquets for the other twelve.”

As luck would have it, Addison said yes to the first dress she tried on. Making the dress her own, she changed the neckline and added a fabulous bow. “I felt so pretty in it!” she says. “My rehearsal dinner outfit was actually my mom’s wedding dress that I had cut up to make into a short dress. It was so special to incorporate that into my bridal fashion.”

Favorite fashion elements were a pearl ring of her grandmother’s that her mother also wore on her wedding day, and her Sarah Flint shoes.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds greeted their guests during a cocktail hour with signature cocktails, passed o’devours and live music. Dinner was catered by the Colonial, the Manhattan Band rocked the night away, coffee cart Bloom and Pour delighted the guests, and a vintage white Chevy whisked the newlyweds away.

Advice for future brides? “My biggest piece of advice is to not dwell on the details and focus on finding joy in the middle of such an exciting season of life,” she says. “The big day is almost a blur and all of the things I was nervous about completely went unnoticed. I wish I could go tell engaged Addie to be content in that season and count it all as joy!”
