Komodo Dallas makes splashy entrance
Story and photography by Michael Hiller
Komodo Dallas, a high-energy Miami restaurant with a club vibe and Southwest Asian-inspired food, has opened a Texas outpost on the southeast edge of downtown Dallas.
The ultracontemporary restaurant takes visual cues from its Florida home base, including pops of saturated color, a DJ booth and illuminated “bamboo” cutout columns.
Start with sushi and sashimi, but don’t finish without an order of Komodo’s Peking duck. Lacquered and crisp-skinned, a long row of them is displayed like art behind a glass window that divides the show kitchen from the restaurant’s entrance.
Other substantial dishes include steaks, Japanese beef and whole fish.
