Find your new favorite Argentinian-inspired indulgence at Gelato La Boca

Story and photography by Michael Hiller

Last November’s Chefs for Farmers food and wine festival introduced us to our new favorite indulgence: Gelato La Boca.

Co-owner Manuel Torterola and his team make the most intensely flavored, scratch-made gelati in town, but don’t look for La Boca’s storefront.

Instead, hand-packed cartons of pistachio, mint chip, banana split and Latin-inspired flavors are sold at Commissary, the downtown grab-and-go spot that shares its space with La Boca and serves as an off-site production kitchen for The Joule hotel nearby. La Boca’s owners look to Argentina’s obsessed gelato culture for inspiration rather than Italy, which means you’re likely to find flavors like passionfruit and dulce de leche on the rotating menu.
