On a fateful trip to Como, Italy — the silk capital of the world — in Summer 2024, sisters Alexia, Andrea, and Alyssa Heist discovered the world of scarf craftsmanship and instantly fell in love.
Equipped with an entrepreneurial spirit and a nagging desire to start something of their own, the sisters began dreaming of a new business venture together. A few months before their Como trip, Alexia had dreamt of the concept of framing scarves as artwork.
“When we got back home, we sat around our dinner table talking about the idea,” says Alyssa. “We actually started to source and purchase our first collection that night. That was the birth of Stately Atelier.”
The Heist sisters hail from El Paso, where they come from a family of entrepreneurs.
“We loved growing up in West Texas! We all ended up attending TCU, and are now proud Horned Frogs that live in Fort Worth,” says Andrea.
Each sister brings a variety of skills to Stately Atelier.
“I have a background in marketing and have done it my entire career, so I lead that part of the business,” says Alexia. “Andrea enjoys operations and finances, and Alyssa is great with process and scalability, and has us set up for future growth. For those of you who are in business with your family, you know it’s not easy, but I think we have learned a ton about each other, and work with each other really well.”
The Heist sisters have stockpiled scarves from all over the world and have created two art collections thus far, explains Andrea.
Alexia says that curating each collection has acted as an outlet for them, as their day jobs aren’t very creative. The Heists can have fun and create beautiful pieces of art that will live on in families for generations.
The sourcing of the scarves has become a favorite part of the process for the sisters.
“I think the sourcing and purchasing of the scarves is a lot of fun, but I also really love the creativity and vision that goes into the matting and framing of the scarves,” says Alexia. “There are some scarves that are created to be worn, and in my opinion, there are some scarves that are created to be framed as a beautiful art piece, and bringing that to life has been so much fun. It is impossible for me to pick a favorite collection or piece; there are so many intricacies to the art pieces. I can talk about them for days!”
While the Heist sisters don’t have a storefront, they urge interested customers to contact them at [email protected] to set an appointment.
