The 39th Annual GrapeFest wrapped on Sept. 11–14 with big crowds in Grapevine. Kassadi Phillips of Grapevine won a six-night getaway to Barossa and Adelaide, South Australia, courtesy of Qantas Airways and Barossa. Team Juice Mamas topped the GrapeStomp Grand Champion StompOff with 33.8 fluid ounces, while Cindy Matthews and Jennifer DeWolfe of Luling earned the Purple Foot Award. Tommy Johnson of Pilot Point won the Champagne Cork Shoot-Off.
More than 500 athletes competed in the Tennis & Pickleball Classic: Matthis Ross (Upper Cumberworth, U.K.) captured Tennis Open Singles and paired with Savan Chhabra (Irving) to win Open Doubles; Travis Ignash (McKinney) took Pickleball Open Singles and teamed with Blake Beshirs (Paris, Texas) for Open Doubles. International winemakers from Barossa, South Australia, and Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada, poured at the Liberty Park Plaza International Wine Experience, complemented by Barossa Master Classes, premium tastings, and two new sessions led by co-chair Lisa Pacioni — “Around the World in 80 Minutes with Rieslings” and a Summer Wine Spritzer class.
