Last year’s photo shoot for our fall style issue took us to Rancho Loma in Coleman, Texas. We took advantage of the scenic countryside surrounding the modern boutique inn and the historic farmhouse that make up the unique getaway not far from Abilene. This year, we opted for a staycation at The Sinclair, a new hotel in Fort Worth’s Sundance Square. And while we didn’t have the opportunity to spend the night — work continues to get the property open in November — we were able to use the 17th-floor rooftop deck, the stylish guest rooms and inviting public areas as backdrops for our “City Chic” fashions. Surrounded by construction workers, building inspectors and hotel employees, we marveled at the transformation-in-progress of the former Sinclair office building into an art deco-inspired hotel filled with amazing tile work, covetable Italian-made furniture in the lobby and, yes, evocative reminders of its historic past. We’re excited to see the completely finished product, enjoy dinner at Wicked Butcher in the basement or oysters in the lobby lounge, have a cocktail on the rooftop and maybe even check in for real. The Sinclair, Autograph Collection, Sundance Square, 512 Main St., Fort Worth, thesinclairhotel.com.

This stylish tailored pantsuit in a gunmetal gray from Burnett New York’s fall-winter collection offers hints of sparkle. Unusual touches such as zippers on the sleeves — roll them up for a more nightclub look. We love the subtle glam joined with the wearability of separates. Toss the jacket over jeans; wear the trousers with a tailored white blouse. Contact Burnett New York for pricing, burnettnewyork.com. Neiman Marcus Fort Worth is hosting an October trunk show for Burnett New York; see details on Page 28. For an evening out, we’ve paired the suit with a pair of Girl With A Pearl Bam Bam necklaces ($255 for the white; $114 for the black), both from Lawrence’s Fort Worth. FYI, pearls are having (another) moment this fall. We think they’re timeless for all seasons. A Nancy Gonzalez top-handle handbag in metallic lizard, $2,950, and Xiletta Disco Ball platform sandals from Christian Louboutin, $945, add more shimmer. Both from Neiman Marcus Fort Worth. Everything packs easily in a Louis Vuitton Keepall Bandouliére 55 duffel bag in Damier Graphite canvas, $1,840.

THE SCENE The Sinclair’s two-story penthouse is a fitting backdrop for a power suit of a different kind. A fireplace adds ambiance to the living area, plus there’s a full kitchen and adjoining dining room.

The scenery at the top of the city is gorgeous, but it’s you who will turn heads in these high-waisted, wide-leg trousers in the vivid Colorama print from Akris, $1,490, Neiman Marcus Fort Worth. There’s a matching blazer, but we like the subtlety of the Anderson blouse with smocked neck and puffed sleeves in stretch silk by Kobi Halperin, $378, Malouf’s Southlake. Balenciaga Hour XS Shiny Box top-handle bag, $1,250, Neiman Marcus Fort Worth. Lulu Frost Compass necklace, $295, and crystal-pearl necklaces, $325, both from Neiman Marcus Fort Worth; Darius Collection gold-plated pebbled ring, $385, and bangles, $325 each; matte bangles, $59-$85, all from LTO Fort Worth. Charlotte Olympia suede pumps with embroidered feather detail, $740, Stanley Eisenman Fine Shoes Fort Worth.

THE SCENE The rooftop of The Sinclair offers the best 360-degree views of Fort Worth and beyond. There’s plenty of seating and also a glass-walled bar to make it a year-round destination for guests and visitors.

The puffer takes on a new look in Tibi’s asymmetric zip dress with its soft quilted skirt, $995, You Are Here Fort Worth. It’s lightweight and perfect to wear over pants for an even more fashion-forward look. We dressed it up a bit by adding our own belt in animal print plus a printed silk scarf from Scotch & Soda, $65, Malouf’s Southlake. Gucci Marmont metallic platform sandals, $950, Neiman Marcus Fort Worth. Crystal drop earrings, $33, and Julie Vos Soho link bracelets, $295 each, Lawrence’s Fort Worth. Gucci Marmont Mini Camera bag, $1,500, Neiman Marcus Fort Worth.

THE SCENE Part of The Sinclair’s lobby has the feel of a very plush library. There’s even a long table for lap-top warriors.

We love a little daytime shimmer and the gleam in this mid-calf satin slip skirt from Vince, $275, fills the bill. We’ve paired it with a Diane von Furstenberg sheer silk Tina chiffon blouse with bow tie in a modern houndstooth print, $298, and a Brunello Cucinelli wool-cashmere metallic striped cardigan, $2,245. Rosantica chain-link hoop earrings inset with crystals, $220. All from Neiman Marcus Fort Worth. Schutz glitter booties, $225, Malouf’s Southlake. Coach top-handle Tabby bag in color block snakeskin and brass accents, $695. Coach Southlake.

THE SCENE  The Sinclair’s casual lobby bar and cafe is light and bright thanks to a wall of windows and tall ceilings. Take a seat on the leather banquette or settle in at a table for two with emerald green velvet chairs. There’s counter seating at the bar and freestanding tables, too.

The menswear look never goes out of style, especially with trousers as stylish as this striped number from Vilagallo, $232, You Are Here Fort Worth. A sequin floral print blouse from Byron Lars softens the look, $485, LTO Fort Worth, as do the strappy Alexandre Birman Clarita block-heel snakeskin sandals, $695, Stanley Eisenman Fine Shoes Fort Worth. Konstantino cuff bracelet, $4,690, Neiman Marcus Fort Worth. Coach Parker top-handle bag with patchwork stripes, $550, Coach Southlake.

THE SCENE Italian furniture, terrazzo floors, a mirrored wall and brass accents make The Sinclair’s lobby inviting and glamorous. Don’t miss the custom woodwork behind the check-in desk: Each diamond-shaped wood piece was individually attached by hand to the frosted glass wall.

There’s an abundance of plush outerwear this season in solids and prints, in all colors and styles. From faux shearling to faux fur, they’re as functional as they are fun, and they will keep you warm. Apparis’ Goldie short jacket in ruby red snaps up and comes with oversized hood, $225, You Are Here Fort Worth. We’ve paired it with a Brooklyn sweatshirt, $49.50, J.Crew, and Burnett New York’s incredibly detailed sheer woven skirt with metal accents. Pricing on request at burnettnewyork.com. Kori Green Extra Extra gray-petal pearl earrings, $220, You Are Here Fort Worth. MZ Wallace quilted Metro tote, $235, Malouf’s Southlake. Coach reimagines hiking boots for city walking with Hedy side-zip booties with lug soles, $250, Coach Southlake.

THE SCENE The entrance to Wicked Butcher, located in the basement of The Sinclair, is in the lobby bar and near the hotel’s podcast room. The stairs will allow you to make a grand entrance.

ABOUT BURNETT NEW YORK

The fashion label was founded by Emily Burnett and Sterling McDavid, who launched their business in 2018 (Burnett formerly worked for designer Dennis Basso). McDavid had selected Basso to make her wedding dress, and Burnett was her point person. The two women hit it off and after coming up with a business plan and securing funding, Burnett New York made its New York Fashion Week debut in February. Last month, they showed their spring 2020 designs at Fashion Week. The label’s goal is twofold: create beautiful clothes and help empower women by investing in their education through UNICEF. While firmly ensconced in New York, personally and professionally, McDavid is a Fort Worth native and the daughter of Stacie and David McDavid, who still reside in Cowtown. (Mom is a stylish businesswoman and philanthropist, too.)

THE DETAILS Neiman Marcus Fort Worth will host a Burnett New York trunk show Oct. 18-27; meet Sterling McDavid in store Oct. 24-25. For more information, call 817-738-3581.
