Vegan sweet shop set to open on Fort Worth’s Near Southside

This new vegan spot, coming from Spiral Diner & Bakery, will open in April in front of the new offices of 360West on 6th Avenue, just off West Magnolia Avenue.

The 397-square-foot grab-and-go dessert place will open early in the month. Spiral Diner and Parker Howard, executive chef of the new Dreamboat Vegan Donuts & Scoops, are already laying it on, giving their desserts the moniker “cruelty-free sweet treats.”

The shop will be open 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays-Thursdays, 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Sundays. Donut options will include yeast, cake and filled.

“Chef Parker has researched and developed a vegan, yeast-raised, glutenfree donut recipe — a rare treat for glutenfree foodies,” Spiral Diner says in a release.

The shop will sell other plant-based goods, including croissants, apple and blueberry fritters, donut “ice cream” cakes, sandwiches and sundaes.

“We want to create accessibility for those who don’t consume animal products and want sweets without the harm,” Parker said. “I have fond memories of a small donuts shop in Springfield, Illinois, where my dad would take me on Sunday mornings. Everybody has one of those memories and an immediate donut shop that comes to mind. We want to bring those memories to 2023.”

Maiden Fine Plants & Spirits, another Spiral Diner business, will open later this year in another building on the 360West campus.
