Texas Ballet Theater (TBT) shines locally and globally, drawing world-class dancers, choreographers, and talent. When the curtain goes up, audiences are transported to another world. Tutus shimmer like twinkling lights, and dancers defy gravity. Behind the scenes, an ensemble of professionals collaborates to create the iconic on-stage moments we love to experience.
Artistic Director Laureate Ben Stevenson, O.B.E., elevated the theater to extraordinary heights. His impact has been immeasurable, bringing the company to cosmopolitan acclaim. Now, Artistic Director Tim O’Keefe carries on Stevenson’s legacy of preserving classical ballets, such as Swan Lake, and commissioning new dance works to advance the art form as he curates each season’s sensational productions.
For TBT, dance is more than a performance; it’s a pursuit for excellence. The internationally renowned school offers classes in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Richardson, nurturing students from novice to professional. Under the company’s Artistic Staff, dancers hone their skills, musicality, and confidence. Best of all, students have the opportunity to audition to perform onstage alongside professional dancers in the biggest show of the season, The Nutcracker.
TBT’s commitment to excellence extends to the community, strengthening the cultural fabric of North Texas through outreach programs that help broaden art’s influence to more diverse populations and ensure a lifelong appreciation for the arts. By providing opportunities for new audiences to experience the beauty of ballet firsthand, TBT is able to promote an interest in dance and support the community through the arts.
As Artistic Director Tim O’Keefe ushers in a new era, the community they’ve worked hard to build will be there, supporting the company and its aspirations for generations to come. TBT exemplifies art’s power to unite and uplift – a testament to the beauty and culture they weave on and off the stage.
