Needlework done well — as artful as the brushstrokes in a painting and with similarly stirring results — is what draws visitors to Historic Fort Worth’s annual tribute to stitchers.

Often a multigenerational show of talent, this year’s exhibit features more than 700 impressive works from private collections and creators of the time-honored art. Known as
“A Needlepoint Love Story” since its founding in 2014, the four-day event — that has included more than 4,000 works over its six-year history — has been renamed and expanded.

“A Needle Art Love Story at Thistle Hill, Chapter VII” kicks off with a ticketed Champagne reception Feb. 19, allowing attendees to meet and mingle with both artisans and lenders of the works on display, which include cross-stitch treasures showcased in a special area.

Proceeds from the event benefit preservation programs at Historic Fort Worth, including the city’s two cattle baron mansions, the Ball-Eddleman-McFarland House and Thistle Hill.
