A longtime West Fort Worth staple is stepping into its next era as Roy Pope Grocery partners with Westland Hospitality to reimagine the neighborhood favorite while preserving its roots. Opened in 1943 as a grocery store and meat market, Roy Pope has long been a go-to for prepared foods and everyday essentials, serving generations of families in the Camp Bowie and Cultural District areas.
The refreshed concept will maintain the Roy Pope name while introducing a more defined dining experience shaped by Westland’s hospitality-driven approach. The culinary direction will be led by a team including Gigi Howell and chef Levi Gardner of Margie’s Italian Gardens, with a menu expected to reflect a refined take on Southern Americana flavors.
While details are still unfolding, the goal is clear: honor the familiarity that made Roy Pope a neighborhood institution while creating a place that feels just as relevant for the next generation of Fort Worth diners.

Known for its expansive Mediterranean offerings, Terra returns with a focus on the dishes that built its following, from grilled meats and fresh salads to house-made dips and traditional sides served in a fast-casual format. The reopening blends nostalgia with a refreshed setting, offering longtime fans a sense of continuity while introducing the concept to a new wave of diners exploring the district.

A Fort Worth summer staple is getting an added boost this season as Coyote Drive-In expands its lineup with special movie nights tied to Omni Hotels & Resorts’ nationwide Celebrate America campaign. While the May 16 kickoff event was private, the drive-in will open select screenings to the public, including “Toy Story 5” on June 25 and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” on Aug. 6.
The experience leans into classic drive-in nostalgia, pairing films with casual concessions, drinks and an open-air setting that makes it easy to settle in for the evening. Complimentary tickets will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis for select showings, adding an extra draw to an already popular warm-weather outing.
For locals, it’s a reminder that dinner and a movie can still be a single destination, especially during the long summer nights in Fort Worth.
