Last year’s photo shoot for our fall style issue took us to Rancho Loma in Coleman, Texas. We took advantage of the scenic countryside surrounding the modern boutique inn and the historic farmhouse that make up the unique getaway not far from Abilene. This year, we opted for a staycation at The Sinclair, a new hotel in Fort Worth’s Sundance Square. And while we didn’t have the opportunity to spend the night — work continues to get the property open in November — we were able to use the 17th-floor rooftop deck, the stylish guest rooms and inviting public areas as backdrops for our “City Chic” fashions. Surrounded by construction workers, building inspectors and hotel employees, we marveled at the transformation-in-progress of the former Sinclair office building into an art deco-inspired hotel filled with amazing tile work, covetable Italian-made furniture in the lobby and, yes, evocative reminders of its historic past. We’re excited to see the completely finished product, enjoy dinner at Wicked Butcher in the basement or oysters in the lobby lounge, have a cocktail on the rooftop and maybe even check in for real. THE SCENE The Sinclair’s two-story penthouse is a fitting backdrop for a power suit of a different kind. A fireplace adds ambiance to the living area, plus there’s a full kitchen and adjoining dining room.

THE SCENE The rooftop of The Sinclair offers the best 360-degree views of Fort Worth and beyond. There’s plenty of seating and also a glass-walled bar to make it a year-round destination for guests and visitors.

THE SCENE Part of The Sinclair’s lobby has the feel of a very plush library. There’s even a long table for lap-top warriors.

We love a little daytime shimmer and the gleam in this mid-calf satin slip skirt from Vince, $275, fills the bill. THE SCENE  The Sinclair’s casual lobby bar and cafe is light and bright thanks to a wall of windows and tall ceilings. Take a seat on the leather banquette or settle in at a table for two with emerald green velvet chairs. There’s counter seating at the bar and freestanding tables, too.
