Foundation expanding its role as the trusted partner, connector, and steward of philanthropy in the region
By Olivia Sims
When it comes to building stronger communities, collaboration is everything. For nearly 45 years, North Texas Community Foundation (NTCF) has been the place where generosity meets strategy, helping donors make a lasting difference while strengthening nonprofits across the region.
Founded in 1981 by a small group of civic leaders, the Foundation began as a simple way to pool charitable resources. Today, it has grown into a trusted steward of more than $650 million in assets, serving 11 North Texas counties. In 2024 alone, NTCF granted $47 million to local nonprofits, fueling everything from education and the arts to maternal health and animal welfare.
“At our core, we’re connectors,” says President & CEO, , Rose Bradshaw. “We connect donors with the causes they care about, nonprofits with the resources they need, and community leaders with the opportunity to solve pressing challenges together.”
Customized Giving, Maximum Impact

NTCF offers a variety of ways for people to give, including donor advised funds, field-of-interest funds, and legacy gifts. Each option is designed to match a donor’s personal goals while also providing potential tax benefits. Unlike commercial options, the Foundation combines careful financial management with personalized guidance and deep local knowledge, helping donors make charitable contributions that reflect their passions and values.
For many families, philanthropy is also about leaving a legacy. NTCF’s Legacy Society honors donors who include charitable gifts in their estate plans, ensuring that the causes and organizations they care about today will continue to thrive for generations.
A Convener for Good
Beyond stewarding charitable funds, the Foundation plays a unique role as a convener. Its grant cycles, powered by donor generosity, engage volunteer committees of local experts who evaluate needs across multiple focus areas. The process not only ensures community-driven decisions but also sparks collaborations between nonprofits, civic leaders, and donors.
From mobilizing over $6 million locally to build a new school in Uvalde, to strengthening partnerships in education and workforce development, NTCF consistently brings people together to create solutions.
A Foundation for the Future

As it approaches its 45th anniversary, NTCF is reflecting on its journey to becoming one of the most respected philanthropic institutions in North Texas. Over four and a half decades, the Foundation’s donors have channeled hundreds of millions of dollars into the community, supporting nonprofits during times of growth, crisis, and transformation.
The anniversary is more than a milestone, it’s a reminder of the Foundation’s enduring mission and the generosity of donors who have trusted NTCF to steward their charitable visions. Looking forward, the Foundation is preparing to launch a five-year strategic plan, one that will expand its role as a trusted partner, resourceful convener, and steward of lasting impact.
“The needs of our community evolve over time,” Bradshaw notes. “What doesn’t change is our commitment to help donors meet those needs, whether it’s today or decades from now.”
Looking forward, NTCF is poised to continue serving donors, building bridges, strengthening nonprofits, and shaping a brighter, more resilient future for North Texas. In other words, North Texas Community Foundation isn’t just building for the present. It’s laying the foundation for the future.
