William Campbell Gallery will open “Ethereal Goats, Earthly Pecans,” a solo exhibition by Fort Worth-based artist Victoria Gonzales, on September 6 during FWADA Fall Gallery Night. The exhibition runs through Oct. 11 and spans painting, drawing, textiles, and ceramics, weaving together themes of identity, land, and memory.
Gonzales, originally from San Antonio, draws on her Tejano heritage and family history in South Texas to create imagery rooted in labor, ritual, and place. Works such as “Pecan Shadows” and “Sacred Candle” reflect on everyday objects and gestures as carriers of cultural memory.
“Much of my practice is about honoring the labor, generational practices, and landscapes that have shaped my family,” Gonzales said in the release. “I want the viewer to sense the weight of a pecan in their palm, the flicker of candlelight in a still room, or the texture of a weathered fence — because those small, tactile moments carry our history forward.”
