SPRING, BRUCE WOOD DANCE

Moody Performance Hall 2520 Flora St., Dallas, 214-871-5000, ticketdfw.com

The ambitious mix includes a world premiere from Chicago-based choreographer Stephanie Martinez; multimedia work from company artistic director Joy Bollinger in collaboration with the Dallas Museum of Art; and a revival of founder Bruce Wood’s interpretation of The Rite of Spring by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. Martinez’s piece, When the Sky Fell Purple, is a wide-ranging emotional tribute to her late mother that was commissioned by Bruce Wood Dance. Bollinger’s Slip Zone Suite expands on her work for the DMA and combines choreography with multimedia lights and projections. The Rite of Spring was last performed at Bass Performance Hall in 2002. The choreographer’s political interpretation of Stravinsky’s classic score remains as relevant today as it was two decades ago. June 10-12
