The museum’s annual bash marks the closing weekend of the exhibit “Sargent, Whistler, and Venetian Glass: American Artists and the Magic of Murano.” Take the kids and enjoy art-making stations, including one that offers opportunities to make mixed-media mosaics inspired by the show. Inside, check out the museum; outside, enjoy beverages and singer-songwriter Brent Cobb’s “country music for grown folks.” Sept. 10

Modern by Moonlight: Otsukimi Festival

In recognition of the heritage of architect Tadao Ando, the museum celebrates Otsukimi, the traditional Japanese festival honoring the autumn moon and expressing gratitude for the harvest. To set the evening’s mood, guests place lighted paper lanterns in the reflecting pond as the Japanese drumming group Dondoko Taiko performs. Sample Japanese-inspired food and beverages crafted by Café Modern. Sept. 17
