Whether you are looking to experience some Texas history, or catch a show once performed by Angela Bassett and Samuel L. Jackson, these Fort Worth events are sure to make for some memorable fun.

RICHARD AVEDON AT THE AMON CENTER

This spring marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Richard Avedon, a renowned fashion and portrait photographer and as part of the celebration, the museum will be showcasing 13 works from Avedon’s series “In the American West.”

THEATER

THE MOUNTAINTOP

This play, written by Katori Hall and once performed by Angela Bassett and Samuel L. Jackson on Broadway, is a moving reimagination of events the night before the assassination of civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The show contains adult language and situations.

SPAMILTON: AN AMERICAN PARODY

This musical parody tells the fictitious story of a writer/director/star trying to save Broadway from mediocrity and oblivion. Along the way, they also manage to make “hysterical minced meat” out of many classic and new Broadway shows. From playwright Gerard Alessandrini, your night is guaranteed to be filled with fun.

WESTERN MODERNITY

Western Modernity by Ed Blackburn and Linda Blackburn will feature prints, paintings and sculptures made by the couple. Visitors will be able to explore the pair’s vast artistic careers in collaboration with one another as well as individually.

DANCE

MODERN MASTERPIECES

The Texas Ballet Theater Co. will be putting on a performance that will be a blend of neoclassical and contemporary ballet and will feature three ballets. Opening night will be Marilyn Night, which includes pre-show photo opportunities with Marilyn Monroe tribute artist Jami Duprey and a Marilyn lookalike contest. Anyone interested may participate in the contest.
