Explore Italian wine with these top selections

The world of Italian wines can be daunting, but we’ve yet to run into an Italian wine we didn’t love. Upon returning home, we searched for Tuscan wines we enjoyed on our trip and consulted with wine expert Mark Card at Spec’s on Hulen Street. He led us to these, based on wine labels we showed him from our photo stream.

REDS

2018 Tenuta I Collazzi ‘Collazzi’ Toscana IGT A classic Super Tuscan wine, full bodied, with an earthy blend of four grapes; about $46.

2020 Illuminati Riparosso Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC A finely balanced glass of red fruit, earth and crisp texture from the calf region of the Italian “boot”; about $18.

ROSÉ

2021 San Felice Perolla Rosato Toscana IGT This dry, snappy Tuscan rosé gives you everything you want in a blush wine, including fruit, dusty earth and crisp texture; about $12.

WHITE

2020 Le Monde Chardonnay Friuli DOC An unoaked chardonnay with bright, lively fruit and crisp acidity from Friuli, in northeast Italy near the Austrian border; about $19.
