PRESSING QUESTIONS

How I knew this was my passion

Watching my father and brother dedicate their lives to serving others made my calling clear. Helping people through their hardest moments brings genuine fulfillment — there’s real joy in knowing the work matters.

Biggest challenges in my career

Clients trust me with their liberty and their families. I take that seriously while also caring for my “work family” — without losing sight of what matters most: my wife and kids at home.

My first job and what it taught me

Baskin-Robbins. Thirty-one flavors taught me that you can’t please everyone — but you can always focus on doing what’s genuinely best for the person in front of you.

A nonprofit I wish more people knew about

CASA — speakupforachild.org. They advocate for children in foster care, and it’s a cause close to my heart. I’ve had the privilege of helping fundraise for them in recent years.

What keeps me coming back to my job every day

The people I work with. We genuinely enjoy each other, and there’s nothing better than celebrating a client’s successful outcome — in court or out — with a team you actually like.

Best career moment so far

Opening Hernandez Law Center and assembling what I will confidently call the finest legal team in Tarrant County. I may be biased. I’m also right.

A skill I never expected to need in this field

The art of moving fast between multiple courts, on multiple floors, with multiple clients — while appearing cool, calm, and collected.

One practice I use to maintain my mental health

Gratitude first — I am thankful for God’s blessings. Then, golf with my son and friends, with a strict no “shop-talk” policy.

Best advice I ever received

Don’t spend your best energy at the office and bring the leftovers home to your family.

The one thing I wish people knew about my field

It’s built on relationships — with prosecutors, judges, and fellow attorneys. And despite what TV suggests, it’s nothing like those courtroom dramas. Except My Cousin Vinny. That one’s basically a documentary.

The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall

Step back and look at the full picture. I have a phenomenal family, great friends, and incredible coworkers. The wall gets a lot smaller in that context.
