Mister Charles

The A-list crowd has discovered Mister Charles, the most cinematic of new restaurants in a neighborhood chock-full of movie star glamour.

The dining spot is the latest from front-of-house impresario Chas Martin and his partners at Duro Hospitality, the team behind restaurants The Charles and El Carlos Elegante. Along with continental classics like Dover sole and prime steaks, there are fresh pastas, strong cocktails and shareable plates that fit comfortably into the Knox Street enclave.

Reservations can be tough to secure, but keep trying. The two-story space is the most alluring dining room in the city, and you shouldn’t miss it. 3219 Knox St., Dallas, themistercharles.com

Quartino Ristorante & Wine Bar

Mid-century Chicago is the inspiration for this new, surprisingly affordable Italian restaurant and wine bar located at the Grandscape development in The Colony. Quartino focuses on value-priced wines and Italian-inspired small plates.

The restaurant springs from the same owners as Chicago’s Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse, which insiders whisper could be headed here next. Dishes nod to familiar touchstones such as bruschetta, charcuterie, gnocchi, pizzas and pastas.

Don’t expect top-notch execution at Quartino, but for the price, it’s hard to find a better dining experience at Grandscape. 5754 Grandscape Blvd., The Colony, quartinoristorante.com

Postino

There’s something interesting happening at Postino, the ultra-casual wine bar and restaurant that opened last month on the edge of Addison.

The menu offers a broad selection of wines and beers, but the culinary star is Postino’s collection of charcuterie boards, hefted through the indoor-outdoor space and loaded with selections such as whipped ricotta and Calabrian honey, bruschetta topped with almond hummus or figs and creamy mascarpone and blistered vegetables. 5280 Belt Line Road, Dallas, postinowinecafe.com
