A trip to New York City is only as unforgettable as the place you lay your head, and few hotels are as quintessentially New York as the Waldorf Astoria.
Located between Park and Lexington avenues in midtown Manhattan, the Waldorf Astoria is more than a hotel. It is a symbol of New York’s grandeur, legacy and timeless appeal. Legendary in name, the property represents opulence, sophistication and a rich history woven into the cultural fabric of the city.
After an eight-year, $2 billion restoration, the iconic hotel reopened in July in a stunning revival that honors its storied past while embracing modern luxury. As the site of many of New York’s most significant social and political events, including the first Met Gala, the Waldorf Astoria faced high expectations, and the vision of world-class architects and designers brought those expectations to life.
Much of the building has been converted into private residences, and the hotel now offers 375 guest rooms. Though fewer in number, the accommodations are more spacious and refined. The signature art deco architecture remains, along with landmark features such as the four-sided clock, a Steinway piano once owned by composer Cole Porter and intricate murals that recall the hotel’s golden era. Contemporary updates blend seamlessly with classic elements, creating a space where visitors feel excited to retire to.
Guests can enjoy three on-site restaurants: Lex Yard, the Peacock Alley Bar and Yoshoku. Each is open both to hotel guests and the public. The ballrooms and event spaces have also reopened, offering elegant settings for meticulously crafted gatherings. The Guerlain Wellness Spa, the final space to reopen, will debut this fall, revealing a 20,000-square-foot sanctuary of relaxation and renewal in the heart of Manhattan.
During the day, Waldorf Astoria’s central location gives guests convenient access to New York’s finest shopping, dining and cultural attractions. At night, it becomes a peaceful retreat, where history lingers in the air and dreams find rest, ready to rise again and take on the city.
