Chef Tim Love is hosting his rattlesnake cooking competition for the second year, Sept. 26 in the Fort Worth Stockyards. Sixteen chefs from the region will compete for the title of who can create the best rattlesnake dish, as voted on by attendees and an expert panel.

The 2024 Rattle Battle, which will begin at 5 p.m. Sept. 26 at Cowtown Coliseum, will be the VIP kick-off to the Texas Rattlers’ third annual PBR Camping World Team Series homestand. Rattler Days will conclude Sept. 27-28 at Dickies Arena.

“After such a successful inaugural year [in 2023], I couldn’t help but feel a bit of nervous excitement about how we would top ourselves this year,” Love said in a release. This year’s version sports a bigger band and more bars and chefs, Love said.

Dickies Arena’s chef David Wetli won the 2023 Rattle Battle with a rattlesnake ravioli dish. Wetli will return to defend his title in the 2024 Rattle Battle.

The competing chefs include Juan Rodriguez, Magdalena’s; Kemel Rodriguez, Paloma Suerte; Rodrigo Cárdenas, Don Artemio Mexican Heritage; Taylor McCreary, Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall; Trevor “Big T” Sales, Brix Barbecue; Jon Bonnell, Bonnell’s Fine Texas Cuisine, Waters Restaurant, Buffalo Bros Pizza, Wings & Subs, and Jon’s Grille; Stefon Rishel, Mohawk Consulting & Culinary Solutions; Grant Morgan, Hotel Drover and 97 West Kitchen & Bar; Jeffery Thompson, Heim BBQ; Patrick Ru, Teddy Wongs; Antonio Votta, Bricks and Horses; Luke Gretchen, Woodshed Smokehouse; John Holloman, Lonesome Dove; and Zach Lewis, Ático.
