PRESSING QUESTIONS
How I knew this was my passion
I knew after a trip to Washington, D.C., as a high school senior, that I wanted to attend law school in D.C. and become an attorney.
Biggest challenges in my career
Determining the next right path forward as a working mother. After staying home with my children for seven years, reentering the workforce was daunting, but I am lucky to be so supported.
My first job and what it taught me
I was a one-hour photo clerk at Albertsons. It taught me people will take interesting photos and hand them to a 16-year-old to develop. I also learned how to handle upset customers.
A nonprofit I wish more people knew about
North Texas Community Foundation and Catholic Charities Fort Worth. Both support our Fort Worth and Tarrant County communities.
What keeps me coming back to my job every day
I believe our area of the law requires empathy, patience and kindness. I am honored to serve clients and their families during times of grief or anticipated change.
Best career moment so far
Being sworn into the Texas Bar after passing my exam with a 2-year-old and 3-year-old at home.
A skill I never expected to need in this field
Counseling and mediation skills. Listening before speaking and helping clients feel truly heard and understood.
One practice I use to maintain my mental health
Attending mass with my family weekly keeps me balanced.
Best advice I ever received
If you are ever on the fence about something, just go for it. If you don’t try, you will never know.
The one thing I wish people knew about my field
Estate planning does not have to be overly complicated. It will not all work out after you are gone, so take the time now to make your wishes known.
The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall
Spend time with my family, say no to one more event and take a long, hot bath.
