JUDI McQUEARY

Chief Visionary Officer

Corinthian Wellness & Med Spa

My journey to entrepreneurship began with a teaching career, passion for learning and a whole lot of luck. I went from “selling” students on grammar to pharmaceutical sales before launching my healthcare company. It was challenging, but I still manage Corinthian Health Services, Inc., to this day. I added Corinthian Wellness and Med Spa 21 years ago and Destiny Drip Bar in 2020.

PRESSING QUESTIONS

How I knew this was my passion

Recognizing the shared experience of life’s chaos and stress is something I’ve often discussed with my best friends in Bible Study! My goal is to embody both self-care and service, offering a necessary respite.

Biggest challenges in my career

Seeing other spas close. We opened in 2007 with two other spas near us but they’ve closed since. We genuinely want to see them all thrive and give back to the community.

My first job and what it taught me

As a carhop at a local burger joint I learned customer service, communication and efficiency. These skills have been valuable throughout my career; plus it taught me to be a generous tipper!

A nonprofit I wish more people knew about

As a woman-owned business, it’s important to me that we give back to local nonprofits like The Gatehouse in Grapevine and I Can Still Shine, along with other wonderful, deserving charities.

What keeps me coming back to my job every day

It’s my passion for the work we do and the difference we make. We are not only touching the lives of our customers but also the lives of everyone who works for us, too.

Best career moment so far

Choosing one moment is impossible, but experiencing team joy is always a high. Recently, The House of Shine’s strength course made everyone buzz with joy and feel extreme gratitude!

A skill I never expected to need in this field

This isn’t necessarily a skill per se, but an unexpected spa truth: Laundry is a surprisingly huge deal! While pros handle 90% of that formidable task, our remaining 10% is a mountain of fluffy towels.

One practice I use to maintain my mental health

Regularly experiencing my spa as a customer. Getting treatments, facials, lasers, injections, and vitamin infusions truly refills my cup every time and gives me confidence. Plus, it’s fun!

Best advice I ever received

Even in times of extreme challenge, God has gone before us and we will get through! Even in the most challenging times, always aim to be the best you can be today.

The one thing I wish people knew about my field

Self-care isn’t selfish! Instead, it’s vital for overall health and navigating life successfully. Taking time to “fill your own cup” allows you to give more effectively and generously to others.

The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall

Listening to my body and going to bed! I love to watch something funny or inspiring on TV as I doze off. A good night’s sleep and a laugh can be all I need to recharge and start fresh.
