PRESSING QUESTIONS
How I knew this was my passion
Having spent nearly twenty years in various areas of healthcare, I was able to see firsthand the changes that needed to happen to improve the relationship between the patient and their healthcare providers. Executive Medicine has been a passion project because I have seen how it changes, and often saves, lives.
Biggest challenges in my career
Healthcare is ever-changing, but perhaps the biggest challenge is yet to come. As we navigate the integration of AI, things are moving quickly and we must decipher between a great idea and a proven application. It’s a delicate balance between experience that can understand nuance and algorithms that see things as absolutes.
My first job and what it taught me
My first job was at age 16. I was a nurse’s aide in a nursing home. Nothing teaches kindness and humility faster or deeper than bathing and feeding those that have lost that ability. Perhaps seeing chronic illness up close and personal at such an impressionable age ingrained within me the importance of taking preventative health measures.
A nonprofit I wish more people knew about
Youth World in Dallas. My family and I have volunteered and supported this organization for more than 20 years.
What keeps me coming back to my job every day
It’s two fold. First, I am fortunate to work with some of the best people in the healthcare industry. Their level of service to our patients and love for one another is unmatched. Second, the patients who entrust us with their health. Because of our model, we get to know them on a real level. These are incredible people who inspire us every day.
Best career moment so far
Being named one of the “5 Most Influential Women Leaders in Healthcare 2025” by Insights Care Magazine.
A skill I never expected to need in this field
I’ve always been a talker. As a child, I repeatedly got ‘talks too much’ on my report cards. Now, I get paid to talk. I use my gift of the gab on stages big and small, as well as multiple media interviews monthly.
One practice I use to maintain my mental health
Every night I read my scriptures and write in my prayer journal. This keeps me grounded. I’ve learned that there is no problem too big or too small for God.
Best advice I ever received
“Nothing is hard, some things just take longer and have more steps.”
The one thing I wish people knew about my field
Focusing on the root cause of a problem is always better (and often less expensive) than putting a bandaid on symptoms to mask a chronic disease.
The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall
Go to Corinthian Wellness Spa.
