Dynamic Development Strategies
With over 20 years in nonprofit fundraising and leadership, I launched Dynamic Development Strategies in 2019 to help nonprofits grow their impact through strategic planning, coaching and fundraising. As president, I work with organizations across Texas to strengthen boards, train staff and build sustainable funding models that align with mission-driven goals.
PRESSING QUESTIONS
How I knew this was my passion
I loved my nonprofit career and realized I could help other organizations grow by sharing my experience — empowering missions, solving challenges, and creating lasting change through stronger fundraising efforts and strategic support.
Biggest challenges in my career
Navigating burnout, managing limited resources, and leading through organizational change have been challenges — but each one strengthened my resilience, deepened my perspective, and shaped how I support others in the sector.
My first job and what it taught me
My first job in retail sales taught me how to listen, build relationships and communicate clearly — skills that continue to shape how I work with clients, boards, and nonprofit teams today.
A nonprofit I wish more people knew about
Choosing just one is difficult — so many incredible nonprofits do vital, often unseen work every day. The creativity, dedication, and impact of mission-driven organizations continue to inspire me.
What keeps me coming back to my job every day
The variety keeps each day interesting, and I’m always learning something new. Helping nonprofits solve challenges, grow stronger, and stay focused on their mission makes the work deeply rewarding.
Best career moment so far
Placing third in the 2019 Fort Worth Business Plan Competition was a proud moment — this validated my vision, recognized my work, and marked the launch of my consulting business.
A skill I never expected to need in this field
Facilitation has been essential — guiding groups through tough conversations, planning sessions, or change management wasn’t on my radar early on, but it’s become a key part of my work and impact.
One practice I use to maintain my mental health
Taking dedicated time to be with family and friends helps me recharge. Protecting personal time, even during busy seasons, keeps me grounded, focused, and able to show up fully at work.
Best advice I ever received
The best advice I ever received: success doesn’t happen alone. Surround yourself with people who challenge, support, and inspire you — and always invest in relationships, both personally and professionally.
The one thing I wish people knew about my field
Fundraising is more than asking for money — successful efforts require strategy, trust, and strong relationships. Consulting provides opportunities to support diverse clients with unique needs and strengthen mission-driven, sustainable fundraising across organizations.
The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall
Step back, take a breath, and reassess the situation. Talking things through with my spouse, or a trusted friend often brings clarity, a fresh perspective, and a more effective way forward.
