PRESSING QUESTIONS

How I knew this was my passion

My own unresolved health struggles led me to seek deeper answers beyond conventional care. Supporting the whole person and helping others achieve lasting health became my purpose.

Biggest challenges in my career

Balancing multiple roles — from accounting and marketing to leadership — while staying fully present as a provider and continually learning emerging medical advances.

My first job and what it taught me

Working in the NICU at Cook Children’s Medical Center taught me the value of teamwork and affirmed the role of traditional medicine in acute, life-saving care.

A nonprofit I wish more people knew about

Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation, supporting suicide prevention efforts in Tarrant County.

What keeps me coming back to my job every day

Seeing patients truly thrive — regaining wellness, reducing medications when appropriate and rediscovering hope.

Best career moment so far

Speaking to international mental health researchers about the gut-brain axis and its role in mental health.

A skill I never expected to need in this field

Learning to say no and maintain healthy boundaries.

One practice I use to maintain my mental health

Daily movement for 30–45 minutes to stay grounded and physically strong.

Best advice I ever received

Remember HALT — Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired — and care for your needs before responding.

The one thing I wish people knew about my field

Advanced diagnostic testing can uncover root causes of illness, allowing for more precise and personalized care.

The first thing I do to course-correct when I hit a wall

Prioritize self-care — movement, time outside, music and connection — to reset and regain clarity.
